Age is Time

Imagege is nothing more than a numbered point of time rendered upon humans in order to right-place him/her into a specific, limiting category.  Time defines age, and Americans are obsessed with both. Think about how everyday living is connected to and controlled by time. Let’s make a list: Jobs, kids, school, traffic, RX pick ups, appointments. . . How often in a day do you ask yourself what time it is and feel guilty because you are running late, or need to be doing something else? WE limit and restrain our lives with time, why? Control. One way we can control time is to control age.

Time will come and go no matter how much one may try to control it. Age is stamped, signed and sealed with a date and time. Celebrating this stamped occasion creates a sense of control over life and living. Each year a birthday happens and we bake a cake and open a present to celebrate time, a miracle. Miracles should be celebrated everyday, so really we should have cake everyday. How would America survive if Americans celebrate the moment, and not worry about the time? Would there be chaos? Image

Chaos is controlled by laws, supposedly. How many laws do we have that are connected to age: Drinking Laws, Driving Laws, Marriage Laws, Becoming an Adult Law — which means the government can start taxing you, Voting Laws, Gun Laws, Student Financial Aid Laws, etc. We stamp an age on “it” and “it” becomes the way we live. Who is to say what “it” is? Lawmakers.

Lawmakers break down our society into groups by age and then implement limits to what action is legal and acceptable by that age group. These groups are categorized by Old Age, Middle Age, Teenagers, and Children. It is really a simple form of agism in order for population control. When a stranger asks how old you are it is a form of discrimination. Immediately when the answer is given a sort of judgment is placed upon what that person can be limited to do, or not do — physically, mentally, and sexually.

Image Why did 40 yr old women coin the term, “40 is the new 30.” They are not ready to be thought of as middle aged. And why, because they are still young and vibrant — as much so as a 30 or even a 20 yr old woman. Women, and Men, want the choice to live their life at will. As it will soon be snuffed out because of their age, so they lie. Today’s demands do not match up with age limits. Let go of the categories.

Age is Time, and cannot be controlled. We should celebrate everyday as a miracle and allow it to come and go as it was meant to be. Don’t worry about how old you are, rather how you’re spending your time. You never know when that time will be taken. Remember, society is not the judge of how your time should be limited to its objectives. So go on lie about your age the number is irrelevant.

Image  Age is only a number, a number to count time. Instead of asking how old someone may be, ask them how they spend their time. You may be surprised at the outcome.

The Pencil Skirt

hobble-skirt-2The pencil skirt was derived from a fashion trend named the “hobble skirt”, a skirt that makes one hobble when wearing it. In the early 1900’s a woman passenger of the Wright Brothers airplane was wearing a full skirt. She secured the bottom of her skirt together with tape so it would not blow around. This fashion statement hit the papers and became headline fashion news. French stylists went to work and birthed inspiration to a new line of women’s fashion which trends 75+ years to date.

Some say Christian Dior was the inventor of the pencil skirt. But I say Coco Chanel was the inspiration behind it. Regardless of which designer was the first to control the mobility of women by fashion, the classic lines of the pencil skirt still stand strong in todays fashion world for women of any size.

The pencil skirt will structure the waist, hips and legs creating a sleek and classy look. The usual slit, found in the back or side, allows room for movement creating a sexy and endearing style. However today’s designers use stretchy materials allowing mobility and creating a newer more modern look.

A simple solid black color will go with any figure.P00074063-WOOL-PENCIL-SKIRT--STANDARD

I respectfully advise that full figured women wear solid colors or horizontal lines. A more slender women may want to embrace floral and big prints to accentuate gracious curves.  P00071734-LACE-PENCIL-SKIRT-STANDARD

A classic length of the pencil skirt usually measures right below the knee, however this can vary dependent upon the wearer.

Coco exclaimed that every woman should “have a little black dress.” I proclaim that very woman should have a pencil skirt. It will complete any closet and add a strut of class to any style.

This classic skirt  can be used in several stylish ways; sleek office look, trendy theatre goer, downtown hipster, alternative-rocker, etc. Make it your own look by mixing and matching T-shirts, blouses, jackets, belts, stockings and shoes. Pencil skirts can be worn with tennis shoes, boots, flats, and the classic heel.

Cherry Fizz at the Comedy Store

A night out at the Comedy Store is a sure thing for a gut hurting night. The men and women who take the stage in this venue will make the room roar and the chairs shake. The price is right for a night out with friends or taking your relatives who are visiting from Bizzaro Land, USA. cherries2_0The Comedy store has a great list of Sober Drinks for those light weights, non alcohol drinkers or the poor schmuck who was duped into volunteering as the sober driver. One of my favorite Sober Drinks is the Cherry Fizz. A sweet delight of cherry syrup mixed with 7up and coke then poured over ice. A great topper is a delicious, fresh maraschino cherry – especially if you are one who can twist the stem with your tongue, a sexy ice breaker.

Add a lime or lemon for dramatic effects.                      sparkling-cran-razzy-recipe-ew0410-lg

The Cherry Fizz is basically a dual version of the two drinks Roy Rogers and Shirley Temple, but who wants to order kiddie drinks at the bar? Let the bartender know you would enjoy a tasty Sober Drink from the non-alcohol drink list. Ask for a Cherry Fizz – explain it is a cherry coke mixed with 7up.

Cherry-Noir-Noel-by-Noshing-With-The-Nolands-SmallDrinks come in pairs at this particular venue – and all at one time. I suggest consuming one Sober Drink and a bottle of water. Even for those consuming alcohol, this is a healthy way to survive the next morning as well as keeping your second drink from becoming watered down and un-tasty. Enjoy the Cherry Fizz from the Sober Drink menu at the Comedy Store on your next visit.  $$

Ice

Equal Portions 7up and coke

What it is

So I found myself riding around on the tractor the other day with my dad tilling up the garden. All that planting and picking, hours of back cracking labor for what — to watch it get returned, recycled.

The cycle of life beneath my feet-the vibration of the machine and the cloudy sight of dirt spilling over itself crushing the once eatable vegetation. . . again and again, the blades cut through the ground, thrusting it into the depths of the earth. A sight unseen in the city. I am a creature of habit. I love the quiet and serene moments I have on the farm but I miss the hustle and bustle of the city, people and traffic below me. I love being able to look out my window and see the world. I am excited to move to the city and experience a new place. I will go from a four stroke to a two stroke in comparison of lifestyle between Albany and LA. What to wear . . .

images-6 I never go anywhere without my overalls, YES, I’m stuck in the 90’s. But, Honestly — they go with any style of shoe and if you go skimpy on top, it is sexy, sassy and jus a little rough and dirty.

My boots define me, I have more pairs than I need I’m sure — bet I’m not the only one though…

“In 20 years Yo…

“In 20 years You will regret the things you did not do instead of those that you did do…” a somewhat remembered quote by Hemingway…. Sometimes I think some of things I have done could have been left undone, BUT, I don’t regret it… because “your world is as big as your courage…” right???
